Crimson Desert’s new Charting the Unknown DLC has turned the base game’s already ridiculously big map into a frankly unbelievable behemoth.
If there’s one thing that Crimson Desert has made a name for itself for, it’s how big and expansive the land of Pywel is. Along with trying to implement as many game mechanics and features as humanly possible, Pearl Abyss put together a world that was already one of gaming’s biggest back when Crimson Desert first released.
Pywel is so ridiculously huge and packed with things to do that it was tough to imagine how Crimson Desert could possibly get any bigger with its first expansion, Charting the Unknown. Well, now that DLC has finally released, it’s become incredibly clear that the base game map was just scratching the surface of how expansive things could really get.
Earlier this week, Pearl Abyss finally moved beyond updating Crimson Desert for free and released the game’s first-ever paid expansion, Charting the Unknown. As the name implies, the DLC focuses on exploring new locations in Pywel, both on land through the use of a ship and underwater, now that Kliff and the gang can go deep-sea diving.
Pearl Abyss is being mighty ambitious with Crimson Desert, and only time will tell whether it can stick the landing.
The expansion’s focus on uncovering and exploring new parts of the world has always suggested that Crimson Desert was about to get a lot bigger, but it wasn’t clear just how much would be added.
