Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 intro cinematic is "not intended to reference or trivialise" real-world South Korean crowd crush, Activision say amid reported backlash

The intro cinematic of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, this year's Activision mil-shooter, has reportedly caused controversy in South Korea due to the use of some real world news footage from a 2022 crowd crush in Seoul's Itaewon district which killed around 150 people. Activision have now issued a response to the situation, in which they state the intro is "not intended to reference or trivialise the Itaewon disaster or any other real-world tragedy".
