Brandon Sanderson's War for Roshar Kickstarter Campaign Crosses $1 Million on Its First Day

Brandon Sanderson and Brotherwise Games have officially launched the Kickstarter campaign for War of Roshar, a new strategy board game. Sanderson has been calling this "the big one" in the leadup to this campaign and the fans seem to agree. More than $1 million has already been pledged in the first day, with 23 days left to go.

War for Roshar will join a growing lineup of Cosmere board games in collaboration with Brotherwise. IGN had an exclusive first look at the game earlier this year and loved what we saw. It's a massive tabletop war game that strikes the balance between strategic analysis and abstract gameplay. The theme of the game is rooted deeply in Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series and includes a wealth of art from over 30 different artists.

If you're looking to back this project, there are a number of options available. The featured pledge, called Fifth Ideal, is what will get you pretty much everything. At $295 this tier includes the base game, the Champions Expansion, 3D components, custom card sleeves, and wooden tokens. You'll also get a few different miniatures for the Cosmere RPG, including Mistborn ones from Era 1 and Era 2 to go with the upcoming expansion of that game.

If you don't care about the extra add-ons for the Cosmere RPG , the other four tiers will get you some variation of these items. For just the base game, you can pledge $90 to get access to the retail version as soon as it ships.
