The Boruto series stands as a popular sequel to the original Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto, and it began its run in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 23 on May 9, 2016. Since then, 10 years have passed, and the Boruto series continues strong today, developing its lore with each passing chapter.
The Boruto series has delved deeper than ever before into the Otsutsuki lore and, at the same time, unveiled to us powerful godly beings. As the story continued, it revealed one strong enemy for the ninjas to face after another. It has also been confirmed that the strongest mythical God in the entire Boruto series is none other than Shibai Otsutsuki, who was first revealed with the release of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 75, titled "The Domain of Gods," on November 20, 2022, in V-Jump Issue 1. This new god is now more prevalent than ever before in Two Blue Vortex, and his new mythical god powers are on full display in the ongoing post-Mamushi arc.
The Otsutsuki, known to be celestial beings with godly power, are incredibly important to the overarching lore of the Naruto and the Boruto series. Initially, they were only explained to us towards the end of the Naruto series, and Masashi Kishimoto, with what little time he had, did a decent job of explaining their origins. It was the Boruto series that dove deep into the lore of the Otsutsuki and explained to us that they are a parasitic race that feeds on the chakra of planets in hopes of transforming into gods.
