BioWare Gear Store Awkwardly Updated With New Wearable Mass Effect Helmet

Despite the recent closure of BioWare and the cancellation of Mass Effect: Universe, new merchandise celebrating the series is being added to the studio’s official store.

The announcement that EA was shutting down BioWare and killing the next Mass Effect was already incredibly rough considering how beloved both the developer and series are, but it’s only gotten worse over time. Promising leaked footage of Mass Effect: Universe was the first gut punch that was swiftly followed by a depressing report that pinned the blame on Battlefront 3.

It’s especially awkward given how close we are to N7 Day, which is meant to celebrate Mass Effect as a whole. Thanks to merchandise reveals and planned collaborations, it’s become incredibly clear that BioWare had plenty planned for the event, including some new collectibles that have just been added to its official store.

As of the time of writing, N7 Day is right around the corner, and we’ve already seen a few examples of what was in store for fans. The grimness of it all has reached a fever pitch today with new merchandise that’s going up for pre-order on the BioWare Gear Store, which is somehow still a thing despite the studio being shut down.

It feels a little gauche to share what’s joined the lineup considering the circumstances, but one of the items is something that fans would have been very happy to see - a wearable N7 Breather helmet from Mass Effect 3 with LED lights that can be switched from Paragon blue to Renegade red.
