Ben Wang Reportedly in Talks to Play Iceman in MCU X-Men Reboot

The Long Walk actor Ben Wang is reportedly in talks to play Iceman in the MCU's upcoming X-Men reboot.

Deadline reported that Wang, who will soon appear as Wyatt Callow in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, is circling the role of Marvel's icy mutant hero, Bobby Drake. He's said to be one of a few other names who have tested for the part, with other allegedly interested names including Gabriel LaBelle (The Fabelmans), Jackson Kelly (The Pitt), and Rhenzy Feliz (The Penguin).

More than anything, news of Wang's potential involvement suggests Marvel at least has plans for Iceman to play a role in the 2028 X-Men film. The character may not have the star power of a Wolverine or Cyclops, but he's remained an important figure in the comic book history for decades. In addition to a variety of appearances throughout animated projects and video games, he was famously played by Shawn Ashmore in live-action movies like the original 2000 X-Men, its two sequels, and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Wang has found his way to more than a few notable roles in his relatively short amount of time in Hollywood. After playing smaller parts in projects like the MacGyver reboot series, The Last O.G., and 2023's Sight, the actor went on to show up in 2024's Mean Girls and Karate Kid: Legends.

Audiences really started to catch on when he played Hank Olson in the gruesome 2025 adaptation of Stephen King's The Long Walk, with even more set to see what he can do in The Hunger Games prequel later this month.
