While the PS1 was a massive leap forward in home console technology, it wasn't exactly known for hosting a library of long games. Sure, for the late-90s and early-2000s, many PS1 games were plenty long, but by today's standards, they feel like they're par for the course, coming in at around 30 hours or less for the most part.
That's not the case with these next games, though. They're all lengthy PS1 games that take forever to complete. Even by modern standards, these would be considered robust games, and a couple of them would still be seen as longer than average. If you're dusting off your old PlayStation and looking for a game that will fill your time, look no further than the games listed below.
To be clear, this is not a list of the absolute longest PS1 games, although many of them are featured here. If I went with that interpretation, I could add three more entries to this list, and it would still be over half-full of Final Fantasy games. Instead, I included the more beloved Final Fantasy games, and then covered some other long PS1 games to give some variety.
Fans were disappointed that Chrono Cross wasn't a full-blown sequel to Chrono Trigger, but as a spiritual successor, it stands pretty strong on its own. From its creative take on isometric perspective to its off-the-rails story and complete lack of a leveling system, this game was trying new things at every turn, and a lot of them hit.
