Alien: Covenant Follow-Up Adds Prisoners Writer Aaron Guzikowski

A follow-up to Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant is reportedly in the works with Prisoners writer Aaron Guzikowski.

A continuation of the sci-fi horror franchise has started to pick up steam, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Scott is in the mix as a producer, with Guzikowski, who previously worked with Scott on HBO's Raised by Wolves, set to pen its script.

The new Alien film seems to be in its early stages, with much of its plot remaining a secret for now. However, the report did state that it will not be a sequel to 2024's Alien: Romulus and is instead expected to share ties with Scott's Prometheus and Alien: Covenant films. The plan is for its story to include Michael Fassbender's David, though the actor is not attached to return quite yet.

No director has been chosen for now, with Scott only involved as a producer along with Scott Free's Michael Pruss. THR said Scott specifically went to Guzikowski to help get the ball rolling on the project, which he announced in August.

Although there is much work to be done, there is no doubt a large section of Scott fans who will be happy to see more from David the Android. Fassbender first played the character in 2012's Prometheus before returning for its Covenant sequel in 2017. As other Alien projects have come and gone in the years since, how Scott might finish his offshoot trilogy largely remained a mystery.

As for Alien: Romulus, a sequel to the Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson-starring horror movie was said to still be in limbo.
