After 16 Years, One Piece Permanently Shuts Down Haki Superiority Forever

The power of Haki was first introduced in the pre-timeskip of One Piece, but it wasn't until One Piece chapter 597, which was released officially on August 30, 2010, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #39, that this ability was explained to us. Since the post-timeskip of One Piece began, Haki has consistently been the superior power on the seas. When the Color of the Supreme King was further elaborated upon in the recent stretch of the story, it became evident that this power reigns supreme over all else.

Now, however, One Piece has officially introduced the counter to the Color of the Supreme King in chapter 1194 on September 27, 2026. As such, One Piece's Haki superiority has officially been shut down by this new ability, which Eiichiro Oda is now looking to expand upon in the final stretch of the story.

In One Piece chapter 597, Silvers explained all the types of Haki to us as he began training Luffy. It was stated that Haki is present within all living beings with spiritual energy, but most simply go by without ever tapping into this power. Haki can broadly be divided into two types:

"Haki is a power that is dormant in everyone everywhere. The ability to sense spiritual energy and overwhelm enemies is something everyone has to some degree. But most people never discover it. To never doubt- that is true power. Now watch!
