Ace Attorney Fans Are Treating Dual Destinies VR Like A World Tragedy

Yesterday’s surprise reveal of a VR remake of Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies is being treated like a legitimate worldwide tragedy by fans. Yes, really.

It’s no secret that Capcom has been on a frankly ridiculous winning streak over the past few years. Really, ever since Resident Evil 7 revitalised that series, it’s felt like (Monster Hunter Wild’s growing pains aside) Capcom can do no wrong and is slowly treating fans of nearly all of its series to a comeback of some kind.

Of course, it doesn’t really feel like that right now for anyone who wants a new Ace Attorney game. It’s been more than a decade since the last mainline entry in the series, and the rumour mill has been chugging along that Ace Attorney 7 is finally on the horizon. That anticipation made the reveal of a VR remake a bit of a tough pill to swallow.

Following yesterday’s reveal of Dual Destinies VR, I just knew that the game’s subreddit would be a total wreck. In recent months, fans have been holding out hope for an Ace Attorney 7 announcement at pretty much every event, from Summer Game Fest to Tokyo Game Show. That still hasn’t happened, so everyone over there is on tenterhooks.

Unsurprisingly, the subreddit is filled to the brim with reaction posts about the remake. There are a few people who seem happy with it , but most agree that it’s a “baffling” decision, with fans clearly wanting the series to make a proper return .
