BioWare, the studio behind incredibly popular franchises like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, is officially getting a behind-the-scenes documentary in 2027. Titled 'Massive Effect: The BioWare Story', this documentary will feature behind-closed-doors footage and interviews with BioWare's founders and former developers.
Confirmation of this BioWare-focused documentary comes just a few weeks after the studio's closure at the hands of publisher EA. On October 21, EA officially announced that it was closing down BioWare and canceling the next mainline entry in the Mass Effect series, laying off around 400 employees in the process. Since this announcement, a number of leaks have sprouted up around BioWare's next Mass Effect game, including an internal trailer that confirms the entry was known as Mass Effect: Universe.
Mass Effect's future looks uncertain following BioWare's closure, but something remarkable is happening beyond the studio's walls.
" Called Massive Effect: The BioWare Story , this documentary will tell the entire story of the studio's 31-year history, encompassing its formation in 1995, the development of titles like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic , Dragon Age , and Mass Effect , and its ultimate closure last month. According to Deadline, filming is said to have begun two years ago, which means the documentary will likely feature never-before-seen insights into what the team was working on in the lead up to its unfortunate end.
