The world of Naruto is filled with many powerful gods, and over the years, Masashi Kishimoto has done incredibly well to elaborate on them all. That said, in the sequel to the series, that is, Boruto, the power level of various characters shot up through the roof, leaving even the Gods of the Naruto world in the dust.
The protagonist of the Boruto series, that is, Boruto Uzumaki himself, is incredibly strong and far above the level of the many Gods that Kishimoto showed to us in the Naruto series. In fact, some of the most impressive Gods from Naruto would easily be defeated by Boruto Uzumaki. While that is shocking for some fans to accept, it is the new reality being established in the sequel.
The Third Hokage of Konoha, Hiruzen Sarutobi, was renowned all over the world as the Professor as well as the God of Shinobi. It is stated that, out of the first few Hokage, Hiruzen was the strongest of them all, although feats go on to show that Hashirama was certainly above his level. Regardless, Hiruzen was still incredibly impressive. We saw this when he was able to defeat both Hashirama and Tobirama, as well as Orochimaru, in his extremely old age, when he couldn't even use chakra properly.
In his prime days, Hiruzen was an absolute monster, but at the end of the day, he was still mortal. Hiruzen does not even scale up to the likes of Six Paths Obito and Madara Uchiha.
