The creator of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda, first mentioned the Sun God back in One Piece chapter 287, released on August 11, 2003, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Double Issue 37-38. Ever since then, the lore pertaining to the Sun God has been constantly expanding. Right now, in the Elbaf arc, Eiichiro Oda has revealed a ton of exciting lore pertaining to the Sun God. At the same time, there are many individuals who now wield the power of this god as well, which, although surprising, only goes to show that the relevance of this deity is increasing massively in the last stretch of the story.
