Space robotics startup Cosmochute has raised $1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Accel and Prosus Ventures under the Atoms X programme. IIMA Ventures’ Deep-tech and Aerospace Acceleration Fund, Operators Studio and Chinmayi Muthyala also participated in the round.
Cosmochute is among seven startups selected for the inaugural Atoms X cohort, which was launched earlier this year.
The company will use the proceeds for product development, engineering team expansion and its commercial roadmap, as it prepares for its next phase of growth, Cosmochute said in a press release.
Founded this year by Janhavi Gore, Amit Chowdhary and Dhruv Alok Sangal, Cosmochute is building space robotics infrastructure for the emerging lunar economy. Its first programme, LEAP, is a modular platform designed to support payload transportation and deployment on the Moon.
LEAP combines a modular rover and trailer with standard payload bays, allowing multiple payloads to be integrated into a common mission architecture. The company aims to address the cost and complexity of delivering equipment and payloads to the lunar surface through a standardised approach to lunar transportation and deployment.
The platform is designed to reduce the need for mission specific engineering and make lunar transportation and payload deployment more repeatable.
Cosmochute is setting up its lunar laboratories at IIMA Ventures’ incubation facility. The startup is also working within India’s space technology ecosystem, which includes companies, investors and institutions supporting private participation in the sector.
With LEAP as its first platform, Cosmochute plans to develop capabilities in lunar mobility and space robotics, with potential applications in other in space and terrestrial use cases.
