Bengaluru-based spacetech startup OXG Space has raised Rs 17 crore in a funding round led by Aum Ventures through its India Innovation Fund II.
The round also saw participation from Skyroot Aerospace co-founders Pawan Kumar Chandana and Bharath Daka, and Cosmoserve founder Dr Chiran Phanindra.
The fresh funds will support Mission Synapse, a 12-month programme to demonstrate its core technologies in orbit. These include a Ka-band phased-array antenna targeting an initial 1 Gbps-class link, a deployable mesh reflector for ground connectivity, and a deployable solar array to power computing and communications payloads.
Founded by former ISRO engineers Akash Shetty and Sanjay Gorur, OXG Space is building an orbital network that combines satellite connectivity with in-orbit computing to process Earth observation (EO) data and deliver intelligence in near real time.
Currently, EO satellites typically store imagery until they pass over ground stations, resulting in a delay of 4 to 12 hours between observation and insights.
The company is targeting defence, intelligence and commercial satellite operators. Its technology is designed to combine data from multiple satellites in orbit, enabling faster analysis of optical, radar and signals-intelligence data.
OXG Space’s founders bring over 17 years of combined experience across India’s space programmes, including spacecraft systems for Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3.
