The launch is framed around a specific and growing threat. Deloitte has projected that AI-enabled fraud losses in the US could reach $40 billion by 2027, up from $12.3 billion in 2023, driven by deepfakes, synthetic identity attacks and the proliferation of autonomous AI agents that can initiate financial transactions without direct human involvement.
The toolkit comprises three distinct products built on World’s existing cryptographic infrastructure.
World ID for Zoom adds a visible “Human Badge” to video call participants who have verified their identity through the World system, allowing counterparties in high-value or sensitive conversations to confirm they are not speaking with an AI-generated avatar. This is aimed squarely at the wire-fraud and CEO-impersonation attacks that have extracted substantial sums from corporate treasury and compliance teams.
World ID for Agents uses World’s AgentKit to let verified users delegate a cryptographic proof to an AI agent, enabling that agent to demonstrate it is acting on behalf of a named, verified human without exposing that person’s underlying identity. For financial institutions, this is designed to help distinguish between authorised automated instructions and malicious bot activity.
The World ID app, available in more than 150 countries on iOS and Android, supports three proof types. Proof of Human requires a one-time scan at a physical Orb device, which is now available at the New York Stock Exchange . Proof of Presence provides a real-time liveness check on a mobile device. Proof of Attributes discloses only a specific attribute from a government-issued credential, such as nationality or age threshold, without revealing the holder’s full identity.
