Slide Insurance pushes into Texas and the Northeast

Slide Insurance, a Tampa-based specialty property insurer focused on coastal and catastrophe-prone regions, has begun writing new policies in Texas and Rhode Island as part of its push into fresh markets.

The insurer, listed on NASDAQ will offer an HO3 homeowners policy to Texas customers. In Rhode Island, it is launching a DP3 dwelling product for qualifying rental and seasonal properties. Both launches widen the range of cover available to property owners and give independent agents more products to sell.

The move comes after Slide broadened its product range in Florida, South Carolina and California. The company said the expansion fits a strategy of measured growth and geographic diversification, targeting states where it believes its underwriting and catastrophe risk management skills give it an edge.

Texas homeowners will gain another choice in a market where catastrophe risk and the price of cover remain key concerns. In Rhode Island, the dwelling policy is aimed at landlords and owners of seasonal homes, at a time when insurers in the state have become more selective about the risks they write, especially along the coast.

Slide said the launches draw on its track record of insuring residential properties exposed to catastrophes and its practice of tailoring products to each market. Widening both its footprint and its product range should help the business diversify and support long-term growth.

Independent agents who participate can quote and manage the new policies through Violet, the company’s in-house quoting and policy management platform.

Slide pairs advanced technology with insurance expertise to take a disciplined approach to risk.
