Malaysia’s use of e-Invoice data has contributed to taxpayers declaring RM1.68 billion in taxes payable for previous years.
More than 97,000 taxpayers voluntarily filed returns for previous years, according to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (HASiL).
The tax authority attributed the improvement in voluntary compliance partly to its use of e-Invoice data.
More than 269,900 taxpayers had submitted 2.14 billion e-Invoices as of 2 November 2026.
The figures were disclosed in a statement issued by HASiL in conjunction with its Innovation and Integrity Day 2026, which was officiated by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Gross direct tax collections also increased 5.8 percent to RM174.48 billion in the first 10 months of 2026, compared with RM164.92 billion during the same period last year.
HASiL has also developed five artificial intelligence (AI) applications to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
