EIM, Sorigin Green Mobility Sign MoU for 500 Electric Heavy Trucks

Energy In Motion Limited (EIM), a heavy electric mobility ecosystem company, has signed a strategic MoU with Sorigin Green Mobility Private Limited to deploy 500 electric heavy commercial vehicles (e-HCVs) over two years. The partnership aims to increase the use of electric heavy-duty freight and support the decarbonisation of logistics and supply chains.

Implementation is expected to begin immediately, with an initial deployment of 18 e-HCVs in the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) ecosystem. The vehicles will run on major freight corridors in India with heavy cargo movement, including the JNPA port area. The deployment will prioritise cargo-intensive routes, where vehicle utilisation, energy costs and operating efficiency matter most.

EIM will supply its Ashwa 55-tonne electric tractors, backed by charging infrastructure, battery-swapping networks and energy-management solutions. The company says this integrated approach will support vehicle utilisation, reduce refuelling downtime and improve the economics of electric freight.

“We believe the electrification of heavy commercial transport will be driven not just by the availability of electric vehicles, but by an integrated ecosystem that makes them practical and commercially viable for fleet operators,” said Mr. Narendra Murkumbi, Managing Director, EIM Ltd. He said Sorigin Green Mobility is an existing customer, and the new partnership “marks a significant step-up in heavy electric logistics across key freight corridors in India”.

Mr. Gautam Rekhi, Director, and Mr. Aarav Tanti, Co-Founder, Sorigin Green Mobility, said the aim is “to make zero-emission freight the default choice for ports and industrial supply chains”. ” They added that the company already operates EIM tractors at JNPT and Tuticorin Container Terminal, which lets it start with deployment rather than pilots.
