KuCoin Nigeria Limited has received conditional Approval-in-Principle (AIP) from the Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria (SEC Nigeria), for admission into its Accelerated Regulatory Incubation Programme (ARIP). The development marks another important milestone in KuCoin’s global regulatory journey and further reflects the company’s long-term commitment to strengthening its global compliance framework and building trusted digital asset infrastructure.
As part of the AIP review process, KuCoin Nigeria demonstrated elements of its proposed platform and operating model to SEC Nigeria. The demonstration covered proposed products and services for Nigeria, customer onboarding procedures, fiat on- and off-ramp arrangements, technology infrastructure, and governance and risk management structures. The conditional Approval-in-Principle is not a final registration, licence, endorsement or recommendation by SEC Nigeria and does not authorise KuCoin Nigeria to commence operations, onboard clients or offer services to the Nigerian public. However, this preparatory work reflects KuCoin’s focus on incorporating local accountability, user protection and risk management into its proposed operations.
Nigeria has a vibrant digital economy and a rapidly developing digital asset ecosystem, making it one of the world’s key markets for digital asset adoption and innovation. KuCoin believes that building a healthy and sustainable digital asset market requires constructive engagement between industry participants and regulators, together with continued improvements in governance, transparency, market integrity and user protection.
