The four hires collectively oversee Convera’s combined product, technology and operations organisation, a structural alignment that signals the company is moving from a functionally siloed model toward a more unified delivery capability. Cahill, who had been serving as Interim Chief Product and Technology Officer since joining in June 2026, now takes permanent operational responsibility across all three functions.
Southall arrives from PayPal, where he managed the Large Enterprise Platform handling more than $1.5 trillion in annual transaction volume. His background at Boku and Braintree adds further high-volume infrastructure experience. Allen comes from Ticketmaster/Live Nation and Shopify, bringing product design and adoption experience that is less typical for a B2B payments firm but relevant as Convera courts fintechs and business platforms seeking embedded FX and payments capabilities. Steinig is an internal promotion: a 25-year Convera veteran who will focus on platform modernisation and operational resilience.
Group chief executive Patrick Gauthier framed the hires around a problem the company believes remains structurally unsolved in commercial cross-border payments. “Businesses don’t just need faster or less expensive cross-border payments. They need to know where their money is, what it is worth and how to protect it as it moves,” he said.
Cahill added that the team’s near-term priority is disciplined execution rather than product invention. “Our focus is disciplined execution: translating customer needs into products, modernising the technology that supports them and delivering consistently in every market we serve,” he said.
Convera operates in a segment that has attracted significant capital and consolidation pressure over the past several years.
