COLIBRIX ONE, a worldwide financial infrastructure provider serving digital businesses and e-commerce firms, has chosen Vivox AI, a developer of explainable AI agents for financial crime compliance, to automate the know-your-business (KYB) process used when bringing new merchants on board.
As part of a deal spanning several years, the payments platform will deploy Vivox AI’s agents to check corporate paperwork, chart ownership structures and run sanctions and adverse media screening on incoming business clients. Human oversight remains central to the arrangement, as every case will be reviewed and approved by COLIBRIX ONE’s own compliance analysts, and each finding generated by the AI can be traced back to where it originated.
The partnership arrives at a time when payments and e-money businesses are processing rising numbers of onboarding applications, while regulators in the UK and EU are paying closer attention to how the industry tackles financial crime. For providers that differentiate themselves on how quickly they can onboard clients, vetting merchants whose ownership spans multiple jurisdictions is typically the slowest part of the journey.
Vivox AI’s technology examines company registries and documentation in over 155 countries, pinpointing ultimate beneficial owners, shareholders and directors before compiling a complete customer or enhanced due diligence report for an analyst to assess. According to the firm, an implementation at payments company TransferMate earlier this year cut the time taken for due diligence from roughly an hour to below 15 minutes per case, while screening alerts fell by 86 percent.
Initially, the deployment will cover merchant onboarding across the UK and EU, with COLIBRIX ONE aiming to expand its use to ongoing monitoring and further entities in 2027.
