ClearScore, the credit score and report platform, is shutting down its DriveScore driving behaviour app on 3 December 2026, ending a service that allowed UK motorists to use their driving data to access personalised insurance pricing.
Once the closure takes effect, DriveScore will stop recording journeys and all app features will become inaccessible. Users will also lose the ability to access insurance quotes and discounts on car insurance, car finance and other products through their driving scores. ClearScore has informed its insurance partners of the decision, meaning they will no longer be able to use DriveScore data when pricing policies.
ClearScore said DriveScore had made a meaningful contribution to the UK car insurance market, but the product no longer aligns with its long-term strategy. The company will instead concentrate its resources on its core credit score and report offering.
Launched in 2021, DriveScore used technology from Cambridge Mobile Telematics to assess motorists’ driving behaviour. Users could share their scores with insurers in exchange for personalised premiums, offering an alternative way for drivers to demonstrate their risk profile.
The app also integrated with CDL‘s Strata platform, allowing insurers to access driving data when generating quotes. Policy Expert became the first brand to use the integration. In September 2025, a partnership with Coplus expanded DriveScore’s offering into ancillary insurance, with Coplus also providing cover and claims services for the app’s Halo insurance subscription.
The closure will not affect existing car insurance policies purchased through DriveScore. These will remain in place under the terms agreed with the relevant insurers.
