Causa Prima raises $20m to end B2B billing disputes

Causa Prima, a Delaware-based agent-to-agent network for business payments, has reportedly secured $20m in seed funding to scale its AI-driven platform for settling billing disputes and accelerating payments between companies and their suppliers.

Base10 Partners headed the round, which closed in September. QED Investors and FJ Labs also joined, alongside returning backers Creandum, Kfund and Borusan Ventures, according to a report from Fortune. The firm had previously collected $10m at pre-seed stage, taking its overall funding to $30m.

The company currently employs 25 people, split between its Madrid and Munich offices. It intends to put the new capital towards launching a New York base as it pushes into the US market.

Causa Prima was founded by German entrepreneurs Maex Ament, Henrik Gebbing and Philip Stanislaus, a team that previously built Taulia and Finoa. The business presents itself as the first agent-to-agent network aimed at ending the constant pursuit of money owed between companies. Rather than supporting just one party in a transaction, as many existing finance tools do, it connects both buyers and suppliers on a shared network. AI agents then take on tasks including invoicing, dispute handling and discounts, removing that workload from finance teams.

It positions itself as a single platform for the entire financial operation, providing a dashboard for users to monitor all invoices and payments. The platform can automatically match invoices, clear disputes and complete approvals. The platform already supports more than 3,000 accounts.

Causa Prima cofounder Maex Ament said, “The status quo today is that a lot of things are still somewhat manual.
