Xpeng brings G9L to Hong Kong with extended-range powertrain after European launch

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has launched its flagship G9L SUV in Hong Kong with 6- and 7-seat extended-range all-wheel-drive versions, expanding its product reach as overseas deliveries hit a record.

The company confirmed the Hong Kong launch on Weibo on Monday, without specifying the date. According to Yiche, the launch event took place on October 29.

The Ultra 7-seat version has an introductory price of HK$699,900 ($89,190), while the Ultra 6-seat version starts at HK$759,900, according to Xpeng's website. Both versions share the same powertrain specifications.

The SUV uses range-extender technology, offering a combined WLTP range of 1,154 kilometers (717 miles) and an electric-only range of 280 kilometers.

It features an 800V high-voltage platform and 5C battery technology, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 10.9 minutes in ultra-fast charging mode.

The Hong Kong version uses a different powertrain from the one previously launched in Europe. Xpeng introduced the G9L to Europe at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, offering all-electric versions with 6- and 7-seat layouts.

The G9L previously launched in the Chinese mainland on September 17 with a 5-seat layout. Its limited-time starting price in its home market is 231,800 yuan ($34,520), with battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options available.

Xpeng is also advancing the model's Middle East roll-out. The company said on October 27 that it planned to launch its GX and G9L flagship SUVs in the region the following week and announce local pricing.

As of October 27, Xpeng's global sales network covered 83 countries and regions, with more than 1,200 overseas stores.
