The Audi RS Q8 is no slouch. It's basically a Lamborghini Urus Performante in a classier business suit. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 makes 631 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. It hits 60 mph in about three seconds and has a top speed of 190 mph. Those are supercar numbers in a five-seat SUV. And yet, despite the RS Q8's impressive credentials, it gets absolutely smoked by the new Porsche Cayenne Electric.
In this new video from Autotrader UK, Rory Reid puts both mega SUVs to the test to see which is better, but not just in a straight line. He also tests their ride quality, range, practicality, and track performance. And, spoiler alert: the electric Porsche dominated.
Through the quarter-mile, the go-fast Audi took 11.6 seconds, a highly respectable time for any SUV, and it crossed the line at 162 mph. The Porsche, though, did it in 10 seconds flat, at 170 mph. That's just nutty for an SUV.
To test their ride comforts objectively, Reid took both cars on a series of rumble strips and used a seismometer app to determine how well they could handle it. In both of their most comfortable settings, the Porsche won yet again, netting itself two wins to zero.
On track, you might think the Audi would have an advantage. It's a hefty thing, at just over 5,300 pounds. But the Porsche weighs as much as medium-sized meteor, at over 5,900 pounds. So even though the Cayenne makes almost double the power, at 1,139 horsepower, you might think its extra 600-ish pounds would hurt it through corners.
