Cupra has expanded its UK Tavascan line-up with the entry-level 'Origin' trim, a smaller 58 kWh battery option, and additional technology features. Prices now start at £39,995, while selected existing versions have also become cheaper.
The new Origin is powered by a 140 kW electric motor and a 58 kWh LFP battery, with a stated WLTP range of up to 273 miles. It reportedly reaches 0 to 62 mph in 8.6 seconds and supports DC charging at up to 105 kW, enabling the battery to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 26 minutes. The same powertrain is also available with the V1 and V2 trim levels. As standard, the Origin comes fitted with 19-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a 15-inch infotainment screen. The updated Tavascan also receives an Android-based infotainment system and a redesigned steering wheel with physical buttons.
Cupra has also added new technology and equipment across its lineup, with availability dependent on trim level. For example, the V1, V2 and higher trims gain a Mobile Device key, allowing drivers to unlock and start the car using a smartphone, as well as a vehicle-to-load functionality for powering external devices. The V2 and higher trims also feature a 12-speaker Sennheiser Contrabass audio system, while the VZ and VZ Extreme gain ‘Launch Control’ functionality.
The existing 77 kWh battery versions remain available, with outputs of 210 kW for the rear-wheel-drive model and 250 kW for the all-wheel-drive VZ. Prices for selected versions have fallen: the V1 with the 77 kWh battery now starts at £45,750 – a reduction of £1,600.
