Lumax exploring EV components with entry on the cards in 12-24 months
The Tier-1 automotive component maker is yet to identify a specific EV component or commit to an investment, but it would avoid entering commoditised segments where competition is crowded and pricing power is limited.
The company is simultaneously investing ₹300 crore in FY27 to expand capacity and scale higher-value mechatronics and integrated solutions to drive long-term growth.
Gurugram-headquartered Tier-1 automotive component maker Lumax Auto Technologies is evaluating an entry into critical electric-vehicle components and could make its move within the next 12-24 months, the company’s top executive told ETAuto . Anmol Jain, Managing Director of Lumax Auto Technologies and Joint Managing Director of Lumax Industries, said the company is now more open to participating in the EV ecosystem after initially staying away from the rapid electrification wave in two-wheelers. “I think there are still opportunities and the entry point may not be through ground zero. The entry point may be through a joint venture or an inorganic opportunity. But I think we are open to now looking at getting into EV critical components,” Jain told ETAuto . He added that the timing of such an entry would depend on how the EV ecosystem evolves. “It could happen in less than 12 months. ” While the company is yet to identify a specific EV component or commit to an investment, Lumax would avoid entering commoditised segments where competition is crowded and pricing power is limited.
