Lexus confirmed the TX 550h+ plug-in hybrid will not return for the 2027 model year, ending its run after a single generation on dealer lots. The three-row SUV, launched for 2024, loses its most electrified option just as the rest of the lineup gets a modest refresh.
Buyers shopping the 2027 Lexus TX now pick between two powertrains instead of three. Pricing, specs, and the charging question that affected plug-in hybrid shoppers are now settled.
The TX 550h+ ends production after the 2026 model year. That leaves the TX 350 gasoline model and the TX 500h hybrid as the only powertrains for 2027. Lexus has not stated a reason publicly.
The sales numbers are less clear than they look in many summaries. Public data confirm total TX volume each year in the United States. They do not break out official powertrain splits for the TX 350, TX 500h, and TX 550h+ in 2025 or 2026.
What is visible instead is the broader market pattern. Conventional hybrid versions of three-row luxury crossovers outsell plug-in hybrids by a wide margin, especially when the plug-in carries a higher sticker price and needs home charging to deliver its best fuel savings.
Lexus also trimmed the plug-in from a lineup that now has a different flagship for drivers who want to plug in. For 2027 the brand adds the all-electric, three-row TZ SUV, arriving as an all-wheel-drive battery-electric alternative alongside the gasoline and hybrid TX.
