The Belgian national postal company Bpost now operates 4,165 electric delivery vans, accounting for 42 per cent of its entire delivery transporter fleet. According to the company, 1,100 new electric delivery vans have been ordered for this year alone, most of which have already been integrated.
The Belgian Post is accelerating the electrification of its delivery fleet. Its current 4,165 electric delivery vans represent a fourfold increase compared to its EV fleet three years ago. In 2023, Bpost had around 1,000 electric delivery vans, before surpassing the 2,000 mark in summer 2024 and 3,000 in summer/autumn 2025. The procurement pace “corresponds to an increase of about 1,000 electric delivery vans per year,” according to officials.
In 2026, Bpost will also increase the number of its electric transporters by roughly the same magnitude: of the approximately 1,100 newly ordered electric delivery vans for this year, 900 have already been added to the fleet. The remaining 200 from this order are expected to join by the end of the year. Many of the vehicles are sourced from Stellantis. The images below, for example, show electric transporters from the Citroën brand. In parallel, around 3,300 charging points are now available at Bpost locations across Belgium.
According to the company, the electric transporters are replacing internal combustion engine delivery vans that have reached the end of their service life. However, during the upcoming peak delivery period in November and December, they will initially be used alongside conventional transporters before the internal combustion engine vehicles are phased out.
