Hyundai to make 50% of India vehicles electrified by 2030, plans 26 new models: CEO
Hyundai Motor Company CEO José Muñoz said India is central to the automaker's global investment strategy, with plans to expand manufacturing and introduce vehicles across segments.
Hyundai Motor Company plans to have around 50 per cent of its vehicles in India electrified by 2030, including electric vehicles (EVs), hybrids, CNG and fuel-cell vehicles, as it expands its investments and product portfolio in the country, said a PTI report. Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum on Tuesday, Hyundai Motor Company President and CEO José Muñoz described India as central to the company's long-term investment strategy amid geopolitical tensions, changing trade policies and uncertainty in the global automotive industry. The company is preparing to introduce 26 new vehicles in India, including electric models across different segments, Muñoz said. These will include an entry-level EV, an electric SUV and off-road vehicles. Advt
“India is the star by having different elements of the strategy by being competitive, by launching EVs. Nobody thought that EVs would be relevant in this market just a couple of years ago. We saw it and we invested,” he said. India investment and manufacturing expansion Muñoz said Hyundai's investments in India reflected its strategy of becoming local in the markets where it operates, adding that the approach had helped the company navigate global uncertainties. The automaker is set to mark its 30th anniversary in India and will make an announcement related to its new plant in Pune, Muñoz said.
