A New Brabus Smart #2 Is Happening, Of Course

At the 2026 Paris Motor Show, Smart’s classic two-seater made a celebrated comeback. The new version will be called the #2 rather than the ForTwo, but the concept remains the same: a tiny city car with just enough room for luggage. It also gets an electric powertrain with a 180-mile range and a starting price of almost exactly €20,000.

Technically, the new Smart #2 uses a permanent-magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle, producing 80 hp at peak output and 96 lb-ft (130 Nm) of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 11.6 seconds and has a top speed limited to 87 mph (140 km/h). For the first time in this class, it uses a five-link rear axle.

But it won’t stop at the puny 80 hp mentioned above. Smart has already teased a Brabus version on social media. The first teaser images show the #2 in black paint with red accents. Smart’s current models — the #1, #3, and #5 — already offer extra-powerful Brabus variants.

So what can we expect from the #2 Brabus? Naturally, revised styling with add-on components, red accents, and wider tires. As for output, a look back offers some clues. The ForTwo Brabus from the 453 generation made 109 hp with a gasoline engine, while the Brabus Ultimate E delivered 92 hp.

That leaves plenty to speculate about. The E2 from Smart co-owner Geely in China offers 116 hp, so the group already has enough power available on the shelf. First, however, the standard #2 has to reach the market.
