Called the ‘Baja Spec,’ the 1300-hp machine will debut later this week, with its first race being the 2027 SCORE Baja 500.
Did you know that Honda has a long history with Baja racing that can be traced back to the early ‘60s, before an official off-road race was even held on the peninsula? If so, you deserve a cookie. If not, well, now you have something to impress your friends at the next trivia night.
Back in 1962, Dave Ekins and Bill Robertson Jr. rode two Honda CL72 motorcycles from Tijuana to La Paz in under 40 hours. That legendary accomplishment helped pave the way for the first Baja 1000 race held in 1967—the rest is history. Now, Honda is teasing a new trophy truck that it will reveal this Thursday, Oct. 29, at a private event in downtown Los Angeles, California. The public will get its chance to see the 1300-hp machine at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, which will be held from Nov. 3–6.

As you can see from the teaser image above, the new trophy truck bears the Passport name, and it has been dubbed the “Baja Spec.” We can clearly make out the shape of its massive off-road tires, as well as the silhouette of its widebody shell, which hides a long-travel suspension and tech that was derived from Honda’s vast motorsports experience, from IMSA to IndyCar to Formula 1.
The Honda Passport Baja Spec will make its racing debut at the 2027 SCORE Baja 500 next June, where it will be driven by two-time Baja 1000 winner Bryce Menzies.
