Flash Drive Update: 2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback EV Pricing

It took Mitsubishi 10 years from when they last sold an all-electric car, the i-MiEV. They are back, and in a much bigger way, with the 2027 Eclipse Sportback EV. As the cars now arrive at dealerships, Mitsubishi has announced pricing–$39,740 for the base model, including a $1,995 destination fee. The only option is the Technology Package at $2,600.

The 2027 Eclipse Sportback comes standard with a NACS (née: Tesla) charging port on the passenger-side front fender and a CCS charge port on the driver-side rear fender. This unique set-up offers flexibility and convenience depending on which type of charger is being used.

The thermal management system improves charging and performance by heating or cooling the battery to the optimal charging temperature. It can be trickle charged with a 120V common wall plug, but expect replenish times to be long and slow.

The best bet for owners will be to install a Level 2, 240V home charger that will take the battery from 20-to-80% in 6.5 hours and 10-to-100% in 11.5 hours. DC fast charging at a NACS Supercharger takes 35 minutes to go 10-to-80% or 85 miles in 10 minutes.

Mitsubishi invited automotive journalists to the Willows Lodge in Woodinville, Washington, to be the first to drive the 2027 Eclipse Sportback EV. I spent a few hours driving the front-wheel drive 2027 Eclipse Sportback putting its 214 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque to the test. There was plenty of both to move the five-seat compact SUV silently and smoothly.
