Mercedes-Benz is handing over its European HPC network to the French charging provider Electra. As a result, 47 locations with 374 fast-charging points are changing hands. Just a year ago, Mercedes announced the expansion of its European fast-charging network - but now, Mercedes customers can charge at a discounted rate with Electra instead.
The transaction is part of a new partnership between the two companies. Electra is integrating the former Mercedes-Benz charging parks in Europe into its fast-charging network. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz customers will receive discounted roaming rates at more than 800 Electra locations, totalling over 5,000 charging points across ten European countries, via the MB.CHARGE Public charging service under the ‘Premium Partner’ heading. The only other Premium Partner in Mercedes’ charging service is currently the fast-charging network Ionity, in which Mercedes is known to hold a stake. The collaboration takes effect immediately.
Of the 47 charging parks taken over, 31 are located in Germany and six in Austria. The remaining sites are distributed across other European markets. For Electra, the acquisition represents a significant growth step: in Germany, where the French company only launched in May 2025 (DE), the network has grown from 50 to 81 charging parks, according to the company, representing an increase of more than 60 per cent.
Mercedes-Benz handing over its European fast-charging parks is certainly noteworthy. After all, the company had originally outlined far more ambitious plans with the Mercedes-Benz Charging Network, launched in 2023 . Just a year ago, it was stated that the network was growing continuously and was to be expanded to up to eight additional countries within a year, alongside existing markets in Germany, the USA and China .
