Buick's Electra GS plug-in hybrid sedan has appeared in China's latest regulatory filing catalog, revealing the fastback model's exterior and key powertrain specifications.
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released its 413th batch of new vehicle filings on Tuesday, with public comments open from November 4 to 10.
The Electra GS has 3 variants in the filings, all manufactured by SAIC-GM, covering 2 engine options and different battery cell suppliers. Buick is a brand under General Motors (NYSE: GM).
All 3 variants feature an electric motor with a peak output of 165 kW (221 hp). Their engines each have a displacement of 1,498 milliliters, with rated outputs of 72 kW for 2 variants and 115 kW for the remaining variant.
All 3 variants use lithium iron phosphate batteries. One uses cells supplied by Rept Battero Energy (HKEX: 666), while the other 2 use cells from Zenergy.
Battery packs for all variants are produced by a SAIC-GM subsidiary. The filings do not list battery capacity or electric range.
Filing images show the Electra GS with a coupe-like fastback profile, slim headlights, a full-width taillight and semi-hidden door handles, along with Electra GS badging at the rear.
The 5-seat sedan measures 4,979 mm in length and 1,914 mm in width, with a wheelbase of 2,865 mm. Height varies slightly across the filed variants.
The images show roof-mounted LiDAR, while the filings also list an option without LiDAR, alongside choices of rear spoilers, brake calipers and exterior trim.
The filings do not disclose the supplier or specific capabilities of the driver-assistance system, nor do they detail final trim levels, pricing or launch timing.
