An all-electric version of the N9, the flagship SUV from BYD's (HKEX: 1211) premium brand Denza, has appeared in a Chinese regulatory filing, adding a new powertrain option to a model currently sold as a plug-in hybrid.
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published batch 413 of its new vehicle catalog for public comment on Wednesday, revealing key specifications of the large SUV.
The public comment period runs from November 4 to November 10. Inclusion in the catalog is a regulatory step before a vehicle can go on sale and does not mean it has received final approval.
The all-electric N9 features a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined peak output of 890 kW (1,194 hp), exceeding the 680 kW of the N9 plug-in hybrid flash charging edition launched in May.
Its front motor has a peak output of 270 kW, while the rear left and rear right motors each deliver 310 kW. The filing lists a top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph).
The catalog includes 2 model codes, QCJ6530ABBEV1 and QCJ6530ABBEV2, with identical dimensions, seating options and motor outputs.
Both entries list 5- and 6-seat layouts. The vehicle measures 5,270 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width and 1,830 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.
Images in the filings show that the all-electric version retains the N9's overall exterior design and features a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. A panoramic glass roof and power side steps come standard, while options include a two-tone body.
The new vehicle uses a lithium iron phosphate battery with cells produced by FinDreams Battery, BYD's battery division.
