Earlier this month, BYD announced it had sold over 150,000 cars nationally in four years of local deliveries. Now, the brand has announced that it has expanded its parts and distribution network, with four major parts and distribution hubs located around Australia.
The largest of BYD Australia’s four parts and distribution centres is a facility in Melbourne’s outer west which operates in partnership with SF Express, one of the largest logistics company in the world and the largest in the Asia-Pacific region.
This facility takes up 15,000 square metres and has a full range of parts for vehicle servicing and repair. Along with that, it also has special tools and other components to support customers and its workshops.
BYD says its four Australian facilities hold more than 500,000 parts for servicing and repairs, supporting a local fleet of more than 150,000 vehicles.
The local availability of parts also means that 95% of all BYD parts can be delivered to local dealers within 24 hours, or if being shipped to interstate dealers, takes between 2-3 days. For regional dealers, BYD says these parts are delivered within a week.
BYD values its Australian parts inventory at more than $25 million and expects it to grow as local sales increase.
BYD Australia’s Chief Operating Officer, Stephen Collins, said BYD’s national warehouse and parts footprint shows the investment the company is making for Australian customers getting behind the wheel of new energy vehicles.
“Our commitment to Australian customers doesn’t end at the handover. It starts there.
