BMW will open order books for the iX5 60 xDrive in autumn 2026 and also introduce the iX3 40 xDrive with 275 kW. The i7 and OS X will also receive updates.
The BMW iX5 will begin accepting orders on 8 October 2026 as the 60 xDrive. Production is scheduled to start as early as December. While BMW has yet to officially announce pricing, media reports suggest it will exceed €100,000. This makes the iX5 the first model in BMW’s electric SUV flagship class to feature an 800-V architecture. Its all-wheel-drive system accelerates the electric SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, thanks to a peak output of 425 kW. A maximum torque of 805 Newton-metres and a top speed of 210 km/h complete its impressive performance.
For those with a light foot, the combined WLTP range is up to 845 km. This is enabled by the 141 kWh battery that can charge at up to 460 kW on a fast charger, replenishing from 10% to 80% in just 23 minutes. The BMW iX5 can charge at suitable home wallboxes at up to 22 kW.
The 4,994 mm long, 2,000 mm wide, and 1,742 mm tall electric SUV is part of BMW’s “Neue Klasse”. The premium private vehicle is equipped with the German carmaker’s 6th-generation eDrive technology with an 800-V system, Gen6 round cells, BMW Panoramic Vision and OS X. As part of the model update measures in autumn 2026, OS X will also be enhanced with an expanded entertainment offering and the BMW Drive Challenge.
