Acura Kicks Off Sales of More Than 3000 Official Reproduction Parts for the 1st-Gen NSX

Acura’s NSX heritage parts program moves from announcement to U.S. sales, giving owners fresh support for their aging supercars.

Buying or owning an older supercar is one thing. Keeping it on the road is another issue, and that's only complicated further when it comes to finding replacement parts. Acura is now making that aspect of ownership about as easy as it could possibly be for first-gen NSX owners: this week, the brand is officially kicking off sales of more than 3000 reproduction parts through its Honda Heritage Parts program.

The new welcome development for NSX owners comes through Acura dealerships nationwide and through Honda's DreamShop. The reality here is that, although great cars like the NSX have exceptional enthusiast support, factory-backed parts re-creation is hard to match. It's one thing to hope you'll find a part across used listings and another to know it's available at a local dealer.

If all this sounds familiar, it's for good reason. As Road & Track reported in March, the company has been intending to bring reproduction parts to American dealers for a minute now. This latest development moves the story along to actual sales. That said, there are two very clear sides to this business: “Genuine Honda Reproduction Parts” use the same materials and production methods as the original components; “Honda Compatible Parts” are redeveloped replacements for original pieces that the company no longer sells.

That differentiation allows the brand to build what it feels makes sense and lean on suppliers elsewhere.
