A Hidden Corvette Collection Was Found In A Texas Trailer Park

John Clay Wolfe found six classic Corvettes stashed near an RV park outside Corpus Christi, Texas. He wanted every single one.

"I want to buy them all. That is my goal," the veteran dealer said before negotiations began.

He walked away with two matching-numbers big-blocks for $175,000 instead, leaving four unfinished projects behind. The deal shows what separates a serious collector car from a parts-bin restoration.

The family behind the collection had been buying Corvettes since the early 1980s, amassing an estimated 30 to 40 cars over four decades. Some served as daily drivers, while others sat as unfinished restoration projects. That mix made the six-car group uneven in both condition and value.

Wolfe runs GiveMeTheVIN, a company built on three decades of buying and selling collector cars, and he came to Corpus Christi hoping to take the whole lot. The sellers wanted $390,000 for all six. Wolfe considered offering $300,000 and set $320,000 as his absolute ceiling.

The gap between those numbers never closed, so Wolfe shifted his focus to the two cars worth the most money. "We definitely got the best two cars from the group," he said after the $175,000 deal closed on a 1965 and a 1967 model.

The four cars left behind told a different story. A 1954 model carried its original-style Blue Flame six-cylinder, and a 1962 car retained its original block and four-speed. A 1964 Corvette had been converted from fuel injection to a carburetor, while a modified 1967 wore later-model fuel injection that broke its numbers-matching status.
