Subaru’s compact SUV adds a totally new Wilderness Hybrid but fewer gas-only models.
Most trims in Subaru’s 2027 Forester lineup will roll into the new year at the same starting price as the outgoing models, but the automaker has made some changes, notably axing some Forester family members for the new year.
The nonhybrid Forester enters the new year with four trim options: Base, Premium, Wilderness, and Limited. Subaru’s gas-only Forester lineup has shrunk quite a bit, as the Forester Sport, Sport Onyx Edition, and Touring trims have been discontinued. The hybrid Forester, however, is now available in five trims. Premium Hybrid sits as its base model, and Sport Hybrid, Wilderness Hybrid, Limited Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid round out the lineup.
Subaru is holding the base nonhybrid Forester to $31,470, which is the same as its outgoing 2026 model. All gas-only Foresters are equipped with the same 2.5-liter boxer engine paired with a continuously variable transmission.
The base hybrid model also holds to its 2026 pricing, with the Forester Premium Hybrid starting at $36,205. All hybrid trims share a powertrain as well—a 2.5-liter boxer engine with electric motors and a lithium-ion battery that makes a combined 194 horsepower mated to a CVT.
Also sticking to the 2026 pricing is the Forester Premium, which starts at $33,470, the Forester Sport Hybrid, starting at $39,405, the Forester Limited Hybrid at $40,470, and the Forester Touring Hybrid at $43,020.
Forester Limited models are getting slightly more expensive, starting at $39,070, which is $1625 more than its outgoing model.
