Pacsun and Everlane are among the retailers tapping into the new integration ahead of the post-holiday returns rush.
Given customer returns cover billions of dollars' worth of products annually, sellers and the marketplaces hosting them are pursuing returns options that aid shopper convenience and limit processing costs for merchants. For TikTok Shop, the Happy Returns collaboration will help make returns "faster, hassle free, and more trustworthy," Patrick Nommensen, TikTok Shop’s president of strategic initiatives, said in the announcement.
Participating retailers can use Happy Returns whether they fulfill their TikTok Shop orders themselves or use the platform's in-house services. For seller-fulfilled orders, Happy Returns says it will guide the retailer through the setup.
"If you have seller-fulfilled orders, this is really best fit for merchants that are doing around 10,000 or more returns a year, primarily focused in apparel, footwear, and accessories," Birdie Smith, Happy Returns' head of sales, said during a webinar about the collaboration.
Meanwhile, for orders fulfilled by TikTok, no setup is required. Existing Happy Returns users can activate the service for TikTok on the platform's seller center.
The collaboration — coming months before the post-holiday returns rush — marks the first time Happy Returns has been directly integrated into a platform like TikTok Shop, instead of through individual retailers' websites. Happy Returns is also TikTok Shop's only box-free, label-free returns option, according to the announcement. UPS rival FedEx has a competing returns service called Easy Returns, which launched last year.
"Our TikTok Shop partnership brings Happy Returns into one of the fastest-growing commerce ecosystems, giving greater confidence at purchase while supporting the fraud-resistant, scalable returns infrastructure merchants need to grow," David Sobie, co-founder and CEO of Happy Returns, said in the announcement.
