The Air Max 90, Air Max 95 and Air Max Plus make up the assortment.
Regardless of a brand’s intent, sneakerheads love to coin unofficial nicknames for sneakers and often do so with monikers derived from pop-culture. This trend continues with a forthcoming trio of Nike Air Max sneakers united by a range of characters reminding some of a certain caped crusader.
The Nike Air Max 90, Air Max 95 and Air Max Plus “Batman” all feature predominantly black treatments with yellow accents suggestive of the DC superhero in days past, before the color was eschewed for the last several live-action iterations.
Most straightforward is the Air Max 90, which appears in all black except for its yellow wordmarks and Air Max bubble at the heel. More greyscale treatments are then used on the Air Max Plus and Air Max 95, which both reserve yellow for the Swooshes, other branding elements, Air Max units and small portions of the outsole.
Besides the forthcoming color schemes, these three sneakers also share status as some of the most iconic Air Max sneakers. The year of origin is, of course, denoted in the names of the Air Max 90 and Air Max 95, the latter of which has been celebrated for its revival of “Big Bubble” proportions since last year. Newest of the lot is the Air Max Plus, which originally released in 1998 as a Foot Locker-exclusive sneaker before going on to have wider availability.
Beside the “Big Bubble” construction, an increase of attention on the Air Max 95 beginning with its 30th anniversary has also brought an abundance of collaborations and new builds including a Nike SB offshoot revised for skateboarding.
