The retailer’s myDay app features a newly customizable home screen functionality and will soon include access to AI-backed insights.
As Target forges ahead with its turnaround effort, the company is arming employees with new tech capabilities to improve the store experience.
The mass retailer collected input from employees across 50 stores to identify areas to improve workflows. As a result, Target has upgraded its store operations app myDay to better asses real-time inventory needs, team availability and sales forecasting, according to a company post Wednesday. The refreshed app will group similar tasks and prioritize employee to-do lists based on urgency and value.
Target launched the myDay Leader View feature, which is a personalized home screen highlighting store updates and resources that team leaders can tailor based on their needs. For example, users can pin metrics to the home screen about shelf stocking or fulfillment data on pickup orders based on their role focus.
Additionally, the company’s Scan to Divert function in myDay was developed to help make inventory stocking more seamless. The function helps employees decide if newly scanned products should go to store shelves or stay in the backroom based on demand and space availability.
Scan to Divert contributed to $25 million in “value that can be reinvested in the guest experience and store operations,” Target said in its post.
Upcoming updates to the app will include the ability to assign out tasks, share handoff notes, access AI-enabled insights and more.
Under Target’s CEO Michael Fiddelke , the company has been investing heavily in improving the store experience, specifically with advancements in technology and digital fulfillment capabilities.
