Swiggy launches multi-restaurant ordering feature across 720-plus cities

Swiggy said the feature is designed to address differing food preferences among households and groups, particularly during gatherings and festive occasions. Customers can combine dishes from different cuisines, including starters, main courses and desserts, within a single ordering session.

Swiggy has launched a multi-restaurant ordering feature on its food delivery app, allowing customers to order from up to five restaurants through a single checkout and track the orders on one screen. The feature allows users to create and compare multiple carts before placing an order with a single payment. Orders from different restaurants are prepared and delivered independently, with each order displayed separately on a shared tracking screen. The company said the feature also eliminates the need for separate checkouts and multiple platform fees associated with placing individual orders. According to consumer research conducted by Swiggy, 55 per cent of users build two carts in a single session, while one in five places a second order within 30 minutes of the first. The company said these behaviours can lead to abandoned carts or multiple orders being placed at different times. The feature is available across more than 720 cities. Swiggy’s food delivery business works with over 2.7 lakh restaurants across these markets, according to the company.
