SITA buys Collins Aerospace airport solutions unit

SITA has agreed to acquire Collins Aerospace Airport Solutions, expanding its presence in airport technology.

Collins Aerospace Airport Solutions provides systems for passenger processing, baggage handling and airport operations, including check-in, self-service touchpoints, bag drop and terminal operational systems.

The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition brings together two businesses already active in aviation technology. SITA said the combination would strengthen support for customers across passenger, baggage and airport operations.

David Lavorel, Chief Executive Officer of SITA, linked the move to wider pressures facing the sector.

"Air transport is growing and so are expectations. Our industry increasingly needs technology, innovation and people working together to connect each part of the journey, so disruptions are prevented, or fixed fast when they happen," Lavorel said.

"This acquisition extends SITA's offerings and capabilities, reinforcing our commitment and role as the trusted technology partner our customers rely on," Lavorel said.

Airport technology suppliers have become increasingly central to airline and airport operations as terminals handle rising passenger volumes and try to manage disruption more effectively. Systems linking check-in, self-service, baggage processing and operational oversight help keep passenger flows moving and support day-to-day terminal management.

Collins Aerospace Airport Solutions has focused on those functions, providing software and operational expertise for airports and airlines. SITA said the addition would broaden its ability to support customers across more parts of the airport journey.

Nathalie Altwegg, Senior Vice President of Airports at SITA, said airports increasingly wanted long-term providers rather than narrow technology vendors.
