Ross opens 51 new stores

The off-price retailer completed its fiscal year 2026 store growth plan of opening 115 new locations, including its first in Massachusetts.

Across 17 states, Ross Stores Inc. opened 41 Ross Dress for Less locations and 10 DD’s Discounts stores in September and October.

The additions complete the retailer’s store growth plans for the fiscal year, totaling 115 new locations opened, according to a Monday press release. The company’s total retail footprint consists of 2,377 locations across 45 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico.

"Building on the strong performance of our newer stores, we are excited to open our inaugural stores in Massachusetts while strengthening Ross Dress for Less' presence in New York and other existing markets,” Executive Vice President of Property Development Richard Lietz said in a statement, adding that DD’s Discounts grew its existing retail presence in California, Florida and Texas.

The company is “well positioned” to grow to 2,900 Ross Dress for Less stores and 700 DD’s Discounts locations in the future, Lietz noted.

Ross Stores in August announced it boosted its fiscal year 2026 store growth plan from 110 new locations to 115.

The off-price retailer’s expanded footprint comes on the heels of earnings spikes. Second quarter comparable sales jumped 10% compared to last year, marking a second consecutive quarter of double-digit comp growth and signifying a better year-over-year increase than competitors.

Total Q2 sales increased 13% to $6.3 billion and net earnings skyrocketed 68% to $851.3 million.
