Avalo is piloting a demand aggregation campaign with World Collective, a supplier-first sourcing platform for fashion, wherein brands of every size will be able to pool together to have access to low-footprint cotton while supplies last.
It’s an initiative that aims to widen access to materials innovation, which is typically limited to large brands given that they can drive the necessary volume for mills to be able to sell by the full roll.
This, however, shuts out everyone else: small and mid-sized brands which, if given the chance, would have been the first ones ready to adopt the new development. It also means innovation becomes an advantage that goes almost exclusively to larger brands.
“Innovation doesn’t scale without access. Most next-gen materials stall after the pilot because only the biggest brands can meet the minimums. Demand aggregation changes that math: many brands, one committed volume,” said Jeanine Ballone, founder and CEO of World Collective in a statement.
The round opens 710 yards with a 100-yard minimum. It will run until January 2027, or until the target volume is reached.
The system is designed so that no brand has to carry the whole minimum alone. World Collective said it would pool orders from many brands into one committed volume, with a live progress bar that would track every commitment toward the 710-yard target.
