Nike’s 3D-printed Air Max 1000 Can Now Be Customized With 14 Possible Combinations

Nike is hoping to offer consumers more choices hoping to snag a pair of its sold-out 3D-printed Air Max 1000 model with its latest initiative.

On Tuesday, the Swoosh said that it has added the style, which is created with help from Zellerfeld, to the Nike By You customization platform. The new service will over consumers a choice between two upper colorways — “Black” and “Stone” — and seven Air unit colors to create 14 possible combinations of the 3D-printed slip-on.

The silhouette is a reimagined version of the original Air Max 1 sneaker from 1987. This new iteration of the silhouette sports an updated 3D-printed mesh with a lighter feel and softer mesh courtesy of Zellerfeld’s latest printing technology. A softened midsole allows the visible Nike Air Max unit to activate more fully, creating a more responsive experience underfoot.

The Air Max 1000, which retails for $190, is now available exclusively in the U.S. through Nike By You for a limited time.

The release comes just weeks after Nike and Zellerfeld revealed the third update to its popular shoe model. Unveiled in late September, the Nike Air Max 1000.3 utilizes ZellerMesh fabrication to render the TPU in softer, more flexible and more responsive form.

3 update allows the shoe to move more naturally with the foot and creates a more adaptive feeling along its sides. 3 released in a “Stone” white colorway with a “Burgundy Crush” Air Max unit.
